Six Fibers · One Life

Interwoven strands, not separate silos

A life is woven, not stacked. Finances pull on relationships; health pulls on emotions; what you believe pulls on every decision you make. FIBERS of Life™ names the six strands so you can see the whole rope.

God's Word is the foundation. The framework is not a replacement for Scripture, prayer, pastoral counsel or professional guidance; it is a practical way to steward the one life you have been given.

Six Fibers. One Life.

The Six FIBERS of Life™

Each Fiber: its three core attributes, what it looks like when it is strong, and how it holds up under pressure.

F · Life Fiber

Financial

Stewardship · Stability · Freedom

Your Financial Fiber is your ability to meet your obligations, with savings, steady income and real margin behind you. When it’s strong, you spend, budget, save, invest and handle debt as a steward, weighing today’s enjoyment against tomorrow’s obligations. Under pressure, it lets you absorb lost income or an unexpected bill and adjust responsibly.

I · Life Fiber

Intellectual

Curiosity · Wisdom · Growth

Your Intellectual Fiber is your knowledge, curiosity and ability to reason, solve problems and evaluate information. When it’s strong, you keep learning, seek credible sources, challenge your own assumptions and biases, and change your mind when the evidence changes. Under pressure, it keeps you flexible: you admit mistakes, rethink what isn’t working and keep learning through setbacks.

B · Life Fiber

Biological

Health · Vitality · Resilience

Your Biological Fiber is your physical health, energy and capacity to rest and recover. When it’s strong, you keep steady habits of sleep, nutrition, activity, recovery and preventive care, and manage physical limits responsibly. Under pressure, it helps you recover and adjust through illness, stress and changing needs. Age, illness or disability is never a failure of stewardship.

E · Life Fiber

Emotional

Peace · Regulation · Resilience

Your Emotional Fiber is your ability to recognize, regulate and communicate your emotions, with support you can draw on. When it’s strong, you respond to stress well, keep healthy boundaries, notice recurring thought patterns, communicate constructively and examine distorted assumptions. Under pressure, it helps you navigate adversity, recover from hard experiences and ask for help when you need it.

R · Life Fiber

Relational

Connection · Trust · Agility

Your Relational Fiber is the quality of your trusted relationships: the connection, support, advisers and mentors you can rely on. When it’s strong, you invest time and attention, communicate well, stay trustworthy and dependable, resolve conflict, respect boundaries and serve others. Under pressure, it keeps you connected through hard seasons, repairing strained relationships where healthy and possible.

S · Life Fiber

Spiritual

Grounding · Faithfulness · Purpose

Your Spiritual Fiber is your grounding: understanding what you believe, with Scripture, spiritual community and resources for growth within reach. When it’s strong, you engage with Scripture, pray and reflect, live with integrity, serve others and apply biblical principles with intention. Under pressure, it lets you draw on those resources, seek wise counsel and persevere with humility and discernment.

Core ideas

Words you will hear on the show

Joe's own definitions, in his words. These ideas run through every episode and every tool.

D

Deficit Drain™

A deficit in one fiber can negatively affect other fibers, creating additional deficits that eventually intensify the original problem.

E

Excess Trap™

Abundance is not inherently negative. However, excessive pursuit or misuse of wealth, success, knowledge, comfort, power, or other resources can produce pride, selfishness, harmful dependency, or the neglect of other responsibilities.

L

Life Board of Directors

A small group of 3 to 10 trusted people you can turn to for wise counsel across all six FIBERS of Life™. For example, someone who helps with your finances, someone for your relationships, someone who lifts you up when you're low, someone who gives you spiritual wisdom. The goal is to fill every Fiber gap with someone you trust. Joe recommends everyone build one for their personal life.

Who's on your board?

  • Financial
  • Intellectual
  • Biological
  • Emotional
  • Relational
  • Spiritual

Aim for 3–10 people who together cover all six Fibers.

Life Ingredients vs. Death Ingredients

Life Ingredients include biblical truth, accurate beliefs, sound reasoning, and real-world evidence that supports responsible decision-making. Death Ingredients include lies, distortions, destructive assumptions, and false beliefs.

M

Margin

Margin is the capacity created when someone develops resources, strength, relationships, or capabilities beyond their baseline needs.

Margin Multiplier™

Creating margin in one fiber can produce positive effects in other fibers.

P

Pursuit of Truth

Truth withstands scrutiny. The pursuit, discovery, and application of truth are more valuable than affirmation or agreement.

T

Transformative Deficit™

A Transformative Deficit occurs when someone's own behaviors or decisions unintentionally create a deficit that eventually reaches a breaking point. The pain of remaining unchanged becomes greater than the perceived pain of changing.

Good Friday says your pain is real. Easter says your pain is not final.
